Excuse yourself - you are judged! Judge yourself - you are excused!
June 2011
“And when Jesus had come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother in bed, very ill. And he put his hand on hers and the disease went from her, and she got up and took care of his needs. And in the evening, they took to him a number of people who had evil spirits; and he sent the spirits out of them with a word, and made well all who were ill; So that the word of Isaiah the prophet might come true: He himself took our pains and our diseases.” (Matthew 8,14-17)
Highlighted quotation: But if we judged ourselves, we should not be judged. (The First Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians 11,31)
Someone remarked in a joking way: Peter denied Jesus because He had cured his mother-in-law. Jesus is a “mother-in-law healer” indeed. One of our addicts was cured during an Aftercare Conference, because he experienced Jesus having rid his mother-in-law of her scolding tongue: "Why do you drink? Don’t drink!" One couldn’t stop drinking, the other one couldn’t stop scolding him because of drinking. Both of them were helpless in the situation. We can read in the quoted Gospel that one helpless family member who has been lying in bed, suddenly gets up and serves her family and Jesus'"family". Others bring more sick people who have evil spirits. Jesus expels the spirits with one word, very successfully. The mothers-in-law, the spouses, the parents often argue and try to convince and “educate” with many words--and without success. These people just bring the sick to Jesus and don’t try to persuade them. Jesus takes their weakness away. Attention, He can “steal” it. If you admit your weakness and take it to Him , He steals it and takes it on Himself. If you deny it, He leaves it on you. This is the secret of change, of getting strength.
