Volunteers from Holland

Dutch volunteers in the Mini Teen Camp

Team leader: Machiel and Erika Kommers
2011. 18-30 July, Bucin

When we arrived, the teenagers were playing Packman. The staff was unfortunately very busy because they had to send two boys home, because the violated the camp rules. It was a hard but good decision: the teenagers knew that the rules were serious. Although they were busy, we got a warm welcome and an extensive tour around the campsite. At first it was hard to communicate with the teenagers, but later on, after two days they became more open due to the encouragement of the staff.

The program for staff and teenagers is quite busy with a schedule full of devotions, games, small groups and other activities. It is a lot of work for the staff but as it seems, they really like it and are very passionate with the teenagers. We ourselves did some activities as well. The teenagers liked it, as well as the staff.

The staff pays attention to every individual teenager so that everyone gets involved. The staff is also eager to learn about every individual story of the teenagers, especially after and during devotion.

The atmosphere is very pleasant among staff and teenagers. Because of this, the teenagers are more willing to tell their stories and are very open to share their experiences and testimonies. The staff and teenagers are very helpful to us with translating, materials and information.

To our point of view the camp is well organized, with passionate staff. Serious and fun activities are well balanced although the program might be very busy for the teenagers, they maybe would have had more spare time. This camp establishes friendship between people and God.

Thanks for all!
